How to Get Killstreak Rewards and Dominate the Competition

After playing Modern Warfare 2 for days and days on end, you start to realize a few things that really work and the numbers will reflect that experience.  It wasn’t always like that.  At first it was a challenge just to be able to move around and process everything that was going on around me.  Now I can get killstreak rewards and have a positive kill:death ratio on almost every map I play.  Here is the basic strategy I use to ensure I rack up multiple killstreaks and dominate the competition.

When it all comes down to it, to be really good at this game you must use this four step process and practice it as much as possible.

Step 1) Know the Map.  This is the most important aspect in being able to dominate your competition.  If you don’t know the map and your enemy does, chances are you aren’t going to fair to well and you will die a lot.  On the other hand, understanding where you are in relation to the map will enable you to move to places where you can have the upper hand on your opponent and be able to shoot them from a good vantage point.

Step 2) Know where the enemies are.  If it is at the beginning of the game you should know exactly where their spawn point is, otherwise you should constantly look at the radar to see where their heat signatures are showing up at.  Other times you can put yourself up high in a hiding spot to look around and see where they are.  Many times the enemy team will all roll together so if you see one, there’s a good chance more of them are there.

Step 3) Sneak up on them.  Once you know where they are and possibly which way they are heading, the next step is to sneak up on them.  A flanking strategy works great almost all of the time.  Catch them from behind or on the side that they wouldn’t expect.  Your teammates will most likely take the head on course which will only distract them even more and give you a better chance of the sneak strategy.  Of course you won’t be able to do this if you don’t know the map, but practice and I guarantee the maps will all become very familiar to you in time.

Step 4) Stick and move and repeat the process.  When you sneak up on them, they simply won’t be ready or watching and you will be able to get at least one if not more easy kills.  But the strategy here is to get killstreaks and you won’t be able to do that if you get too greedy.

Stick and move, don’t try to kill them all if you aren’t going to live through it.  You are just giving up your killstreak reward which will allow you to really add up your kills as the game progresses.  Remember, these are 10 minute deathmatches and you will have plenty of time to rack up more kills playing this sneaking game.  Get a kill or two and get out of there alive, then just repeat the process.

There you have it…know the map, know where the players are, sneak up on them, stick and move and repeat the process. This is the general strategy that you should implement on Deathmatch in Modern Warfare 2 if you want to get really good at this game.
